The Thief You Are
On self-abandonment and the truth you keep deferring
How many of us are lost, delayed, eternally deferred by our own thinking? The subconscious drive to deny ourselves our own efforts was once a protective mechanism, designed for safety and survival. But it no longer keeps us safe. It keeps us stuck.
And in the self-imprisonment of the mind seethes a darker, more terrifying truth:
we are not all we could be, and we know it.
Yet instead of being inspired by this haunting reality, we submit to it. We opt for self-deception, telling ourselves we are somehow incapable, that we are better in service to others than in answering the call of our own depth. Why?
Because it’s easier. More comfortable. Safe, we say.
But how can it be safe to imprison your own light for eternity? The certainty of that choice is absolute ruin. Yes, in the effort of action, failure of the imagined outcome is possible. But the true expression of a self in its own authentic vision is never a failure. It is an inching toward an actuality we haven’t yet had the courage or the vision to call forward. Expansion.
Then how?
Don’t ask me.
Have you not your own light? Your own intuitive direction, your own deep inner guidance? It knows the way. It knows how. It has been trying to lead you all this time and you keep getting in your own way, tripping over borrowed ideas and inherited misbeliefs.
The reason you’re here is because you forgot how to be there, with yourself, by yourself. You’ve mistaken your distraction for productivity and called it a life. And so you defer this inevitable meeting, seeking solace in the great minds of others at the sacrifice of your own.
Then you blame the very systems that entertain you for doing so. But there is no thief on earth so skilled, so malicious, as the way you rob yourself.
You need not abandon your books, business, and busyness. But you must stop abandoning yourself.
In the effort it takes to understand another, you would find an ocean of wisdom within, if only you allowed yourself to enter the deep and mysterious waters of who you actually are.
